This paper presents simulations for analyzing the flexible demand in the UK distribution system to support the growth in renewable generation up to 2050. The flexible load is expressed as an effective spinning reserve (SR) provided by the demand side. The growth in six types of flexible load demand up to 2050 is explored. In particular, this paper concentrates on predicting the effects of EV demand, using half-hour resolution, and the vehicle-to-grid (V2G) concept is considered as well. It is demonstrated that the application of the V2G concept improves the flexible demand profile during key stages of the daytime, optimizing the load balancing of the electrical network. |
