Popis: | Parkinson's disease is a neurodegenerative disease that affects many people around the world, the number of which is increasing along with population aging. Therefore, it is important to be able to measure the severity of symptoms easily. Tremors are one of the main symptoms of Parkinson's disease. These are regular muscles movements that occur unconsciously in the head, trunk, and fingers. In a previous study, a method was proposed for measuring tremors using a triaxial accelerometer. However, this method required the patient to either grasp or wear the measuring device. Hence, in the present study, we attempt to measure tremors using the Leap Motion sensor that was developed originally as a computer interface. Its specialized purpose is to detect hand motion, which makes it possible to measure tremors in the hands without touching them. Furthermore, we have developed application software with which to measure tremor symptoms easily. This would allow rehabilitation to be monitored in a hospital environment or at home without specialized equipment. We have confirmed that quantitative measurement of tremors is possible by using this application software. |
