Popis: Plant carotenoids are influenced reversibly and irreversibly by exogenous and endogenous factors. Pesticides, particularly herbicides and plant growth regulators, induce the presence of carotenoids in plant cells. Even degradation products of carotenoids, formed in the plants, show an important influence on the stability of these pigments. An interesting subject, the physiological importance of carotenoids in connection with the pollution of flowers is mentioned at the end of this paper.
