Popis: In this paper, a new stream water quality model is developed. The model is developed to analyse accurately the water quality and at the same time is capable of generating control strategies that insures the satisfaction of water quality standards in polluted reaches. The mathematical derivation of the model is given. Then for the purpose of validation, the model is used to analyse the water quality in the River Nile. Finally, in order to demonstrate how the model is used for control purposes, an optimization problem is formulated. Then an algorithm based on decomposition coordination techniques is presented which can be used to give optimal open loop control stategies that maintains water quality standards with minimum cost.
