Popis: | By application of a simple soaking process, ion beam-modified stainless steel, silicon and silica glass substrates are found to be able to induce hydroxyapatite (HA) (bone-and teeth-like mineral) on their surfaces after soaking for 3 days in a simulated body fluid. With the purpose to create micropatterned surfaces, the substrates are modified by sequential implantation of Ca and P ions, known as basic ions of HA, through a mask with a definite design. The grown HA layers are analysed by Fourier transform infrared and Raman spectroscopies, scanning electron microscopy, and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy. It was observed that a homogeneously distributed HA layer covers both implanted and non-implanted areas. The reasons for this observation are discussed in terms of the wettability properties of the surface. |
