Isotopic and chemical constraints on the formation of the thermogenic hydrocarbon gases has been developed over the last ten years, for the oil and gas evaluation. However, there is currently no mathematical approach that both integrates specifically the isotopic and chemical fractionations of these gases during their genesis, and accounts for the entire range of experimental and field data. On the one hand, usual models of organic matter degradation are not detailed enough for the gas production, and on the other hand, the mechanisms of isotopic fractionation (kinetic vs. equilibrium) are still debated. |
