Popis: The parasitological survey of 150 specimens of the painted comber Serranus scriba and 138 specimens of the comber Serranus cabrilla reveals a total of 19 parasite species belonging to six taxonomic groups: five species of myxosporean (Ceratomuxa sp. 1, Ceratomyxa sp. 2, Ceratomyxa sp. 3, Ceratomyxa sp. 4 and Myxidium sp.), six species of nematodes (Hysterothylacium fabri, Hysterothylacium aduncum, Hysterothylacium sp., Anisakis sp., Contracaecum sp., and Philometra serranellicabrillae), three species of digenea (Derogenes sp., Deretrema sp., and Helicometra fasciata), two species of copepods (Lernanthropus scribae and Anchistrotos laqueus), two species of isopods (Nerocila bivittata and Gnathia sp.) and one species of hirudinea (Trachelobdella sp.). Parasite communities of S. scriba and S. cabrilla were richer in endoparasites than in ectoparasites. Species richness and diversity were influenced by the host species and the sampling sites. Study of the relationship between host size and parasite infection showed that the size of the hosts influenced significantly the species richness and the abundance of parasites. The structure and the distribution of the parasite communities of S. scriba and S. cabrilla are presented for the first time in this study.
