Popis: Apparatus and technique are described by means of which the examination of surfaces by electron-diffraction may be carried out at temperatures up to 1200° C. The diffraction section is water-cooled, and a special feature of the design is that no refractory material is used in the vacuum chamber; this enables a high vacuum to be maintained.
