Popis:	Tibouchina xochiatencana, a new species of Melastomataceae collected near Xochiatenco, municipality of Malinaltepec, in the Sierra Madre del Sur of Guerrero, is described and illustrated. This species is part of an informal group of Mexican species with large, strongly dimorphic stamens. Its distant relatives are Tibouchina araneicalyx and T. durangensis, both of which have bractlets and calyx lobes that are adaxially glabrous, and short, appressed hypanthial trichomes.
