Experimental data are given in this paper on the production of the radionuclide 93m Nb by fast neutrons in the nuclear reactor BR-10. After a preliminary separation from tantalum-182, an annular source was made from the resulting 93m Nb and the detection limits of some elements with this source and one of 109 Cd were compared. These measurements showed that under approximately equal intensity of x-radiation of the sources the detection limits of the element by K x-rays is approx. 1.4 times smaller using the 93m Nb source. Thus these results indicate the possibility of the use of 93m Nb sources, produced in the nuclear reactor BR-10, for x-ray analysis. |
