Simultaneous placement of multi-DG and capacitor in distribution system using hybrid optimization method

Popis: At present the use of distributed generation (DG) units and shunt capacitors simultaneously in radial distribution system (RDS) is very common to reduce losses and to improve the voltage profile in the system. Optimal location and size of DG and capacitors are crucial factors to maximize the loss reduction and to enhance the performance of the network. This paper, proposes an efficient hybrid method based on Genetic Algorithm (GA) and Artificial Bee Colony (ABC) which helps to determine the optimal location and size of DG sources and capacitor banks simultaneously. The main objective is to reduce real power loss in distribution system by placing multiple DG sources and capacitor banks. The proposed method is implemented on IEEE 33 and 69 bus radial distribution systems and results show the method is more effective than the results presented by other hybrid methods such as GA/PSO and ICA/GA.
