Epoxy zinc coatings containing multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) were prepared, and the effect of MWCNTs on the conductivity and adhesion strength, and hence on the corrosion protectiveness, of epoxy zinc coated carbon steel was examined using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and hygrothermal cyclic testing. An increase in conductivity and adhesion strength was observed with epoxy zinc coatings having a higher MWCNT content. In the results of EIS analysis, epoxy zinc coatings with higher zinc and MWCNT contents showed higher corrosion protectiveness and it well agreed with the changes of conductivity and adhesion strength, which correlated with an increase in the cathodic protection of epoxy zinc-coated carbon steel. |
