Popis: The design of switched mode power supply (SMPS) for different power applications is a major concern in industries. The quality of the power consumed should be taken care in the design procedure itself which demands a near unity power factor (PF) to be maintained. Application of power factor correction(PFC) converter is one of the methods of improving the power quality and it becomes an important part of power supplies. Controllers are required along with the converter to achieve good PF. In this work, the algorithm implemented for the controller is Average current mode Control(ACMC) which is found to be one of the best choices for PFC applications. The compensator design is the major issue in the implementation of ACMC method. This work mainly discusses about the compensator design method for a PFC converter. Stability analysis of the designed compensator is discussed in detail. A mathematical model is also developed for the compensator by using MATLAB software.
