Popis:	Predoi et al (2003 J. Phys.: Condens. Matter 15 1797) analysed Mossbauer spectra of powders of γ-Fe2O3 particles with a varying degree of hydration or with sulfate coating in terms of surface effects, superparamagnetic relaxation, and inter-particle interactions. We show that the paper is based on an incorrect presentation of the materials and the reported analyses are misleading throughout.
