Popis:	The objective of the present study is the identification of the characteristics of monthly Sq variations for geomagnetic components D, H and Z for a time series at four Indian geomagnetic observatories, namely, Alibag (ALB), Hyderabad (HYD), Pondicherry (PON) and Visakhapatnam (VIZ). To study the behavior of Sq monthly variation, a two state Markov chain model is employed. With the help of Markov transition probabilities, one can guess the behavior of a time series data. Index Terms: Geomagnetic field – Geomagnetic Sq variation– Stochastic process – Markov chain model – Bernoulli trials
