Popis: | Fringe field effect is equivalent to an extension in size of an RF patch, either as resonator or as antenna. A CAD formula for this extension is derived from DC capacitor and is shown to be applicable for all practical thickness and permittivity er of the substrate. For example, for patch resonators of large er and for patch antennas on thick substrate (h/λ0 < 0.23), the maximum errors in resonant frequencies are only 0.2% and 3%, respectively. The fringe extension through DC is understandable in physics from the point of view of the frequency invariance of fringe field with thin substrate asymptotically. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
