Popis: Rice husk is one of the most abundant lignocellulose biomass from postharvest processing of rice, with a high potential as a feedstock for biofuel production. However, in order to utilize it for that purpose, it’s physical, chemical, and thermochemical characteristics’ including its energy (heating) value needs to be determined. In this study, effective method of determining the heating value of rice husk samples using oxygen bomb calorimeter (Parr 6772) and ash analysis based on ASTM standard was studied. The result showed that densification of rice husk at medium pressures, using 15% moisture and hold time of 60 seconds produced pellets with good impact resistance index; which combust completely in the oxygen bomb without spillage. The results also showed that although the impact resistances of pellets from different rice husk samples were significantly different at hold time of 20 seconds, there was no difference in impact resistance at hold time of 60 seconds.
