Popis: | The athlete who presents with pain in the pelvis, hip, and thigh region is a challenge to the sports medicine practitioner. This article deals with the relationship between the pelvic girdle, hip, and thigh. The biomechanical approach to this region and the identification of mechanisms of muscle imbalances and joint dysfunctions in relationship to their role as predisposing factors to soft-tissue injuries are emphasized. Successful long-term outcome and the prevention of re-injury is more likely if the focus is on functional restoration of the pelvic-hip-thigh region rather than on pain alleviation. |
