This paper presents the results of several visibility analysis (viewshed, cumulative viewshed and intervisibility) applied to two of the main necropolis of Gor River: Hoyas del Conquín and Las Majadillas. Following the studies carried out by the Research Group HUM274 belonging to the Department of Prehistory and Archaeology of the University of Granada, the object of this analysis is to develop a deeper understanding of the distribution patterns and the internal organisation of the Gor River megalithic necropolis. From this analysis we can infer that visual control of each group over the territory is preferred over control from individual monuments. This thesis is reinforced by very variable viewshed indexes that contrast with the cumulative viewshed for every necropolis, which clearly shows a keen interest to control the entirety of the valley. The importance of visual control over the territory is also evidenced by the strong link between every monument and the settlement in every group, sometimes connecting external monuments too. |
