Popis: | BACKGROUND AND AIMS Patients with end-stage kidney disease (ESKD) are becoming older and more comorbid. We define assisted peritoneal dialysis (aPD) as any PD treatment that needs the help of another person regardless of the age of the patient and the duration of such help. Our aim was to analyse our aPD experience. METHOD RESULTS CONCLUSION aPD should be considered not only in the elder or fragile, but also in cases of variable disability regardless of patient age. It does not imply a higher complication rate or a technique failure, and careful caregiver support should be provided to avoid exhaustion and PD abandonment. |
