Partial Discharge (PD) phenomena is always related to degradation of insulation; affecting the insulation performance within an electrical equipment. Modelling of PD permits an improved consideration of the occurrences. In this review paper, a simulation model has been considered for spherical cavity within a dielectric material which is homogenous. The model is simulated using method called as Finite Element Method (FEM) with the help of ANSYS-software. PD action inside a void is subjective to several parameters. Here applied voltage is considered as one of its parameter. Different PD patterns are obtained when subjected to different applied volatages and leads to failure of insulation. The applied voltage that is considered here is AC sinusoidal voltage. Results obtained improves the understanding on behaviour of partial discharge under applied voltage; also assist in insulation diagnostics. |
