Popis:	This article seeks to provide a better understanding of what lies behind the motivation to engage or not in leisure activities. It draws on self-determination theory developed by Deci and Ryan with reference to recent relevant research. It also outlines two approaches based on this theory: Vallerand’s hierarchical model of intrinsic and extrinsic motivation and Vallerand et al.’s dualistic model of passion.
