Popis: It is shown experimentally that there is often a linear relation between the temperature of a metal surface and the minimum temperature of a particle of liquid metal which strikes it and, after solidification, adheres. A mathematical analysis suggests that this is explained by a requirement for the surface of the solid metal to reach a certain temperature. For tin on tin, this temperature is the melting point temperature and is consistent with fusionwelding.
