Polymer insulators are evaluated by their leakage currents which are separated into three components. The first component is the conductive current that flows in the water film. Second, is the corona (partial) discharge current and third, the dry band arc discharge current. It is considered that dry band arc discharge resulted in a significant influence on the deterioration of polymer sample. In this paper, effect of sample size on the leakage current and dry band arc channel is described experimentally. As the results, leakage current separated three components increased respectively with the increase of the gap length. Also, chemical change on the polymer surface was weakly subjected to the effect of aging or each leakage current. |
