Popis: | Previous research on personality attribution to faces implicitly assumed that particular features of faces and their configurations lead to particular patterns of personality attribution uniformly. Xu and his colleague raised a concern about the validity of this assumption by showing features of observers also influence impression ratings of faces. In particular they showed that observers’ personalities influence their observational behaviors which in turn influence impression ratings of faces. The present research examined the direct effects of observers’ personalities on impression ratings of face while controlling for observational behaviors. Our results showed that there were some participants with particular personalities tried to look at non-targeted areas of faces even when those areas were masked and not visible to them, indicating robustness of the effect of personality on impression ratings. In addition, we were able to show that there were direct effects of observers’ personalities on impression ratings on faces while controlling for observational behaviors. |
