Popis: | The subject "fertility and cancer" becomes increasingly important due to a steadily improving of survival rates of young patients. It is essential for patients being informed about possible consequences of their cancer disease and required medical care concerning a prospective parenthood. Any loss of fertility implies an additional devastating burden and rearrangement of the concept of life regarding to family planning. A transparent conversation about carefully considered treatment options of fertility preservation should be offered to the patients. Expertise on the part of oncologists about possible risks and a good physician-patient-communication are indispensable. Today fertility preserving strategies are available for females and males and could symbolise a bridge in the future. Prospective parenthood plays an important role for cancer patients. For using all opportunities of fertility preserving strategies offered to every patient, a close cooperation between oncologists and specialists in reproductive medicine is needed. |
