Investigation of aggregation behavior of bile salts by small-angle x-ray scattering

Popis: The aggregation behavior of bile salts have been investigated by small-angle X-ray measurements of water solutions of sodium cholate, deoxycholate, and chenodeoxycholate. Concentration dependence of the aggregation number suggests a two-micelle formation process. Micelles of uniform size are formed in the first step (30-120 mM), while the micellar size growth is characteristic for the second step (120-300 mM). Maximum intensity observed on the scattering curves points to the presence of the intermicellar arrangement in the solutions called «supramolecular structure»
