Popis: | Two thermal triple-axis spectrometers (TAS) are in use in the reactor hall of Orphee. These instruments are the suc-cessors of a French TAS of the old EL3 reactor and of a TAS coming from Karlsruhe, and managed by a German group. Both spectrometers, installed in the early 1980s on channel1 T and 2T, respectively, have identical primary shieldings, but differ by specific options onmonochromators and ana-lyzers. Their excellence has been proven by many important results obtainedon various topics, particularly in the field of superconductivity. Nowadays, many state-of-the-art experi-ments on TAS become increasingly difficult due to both the weakness of the signals and/or the smallness of the available single crystals. Therefore, the need for a higher flux led us to propose a modification of the beam size of the 2T channel, IT being reserved for a possible transformation to a cold source channel. This implied a permutation of the French and German TASs, which has been accepted and realized. |
