Popis: | Water-soluble polymeric esters (polyesters) of oxacillin, based on linear poly(N-2-hydroxypropyl methacrylamide) poly(HPMA) and branched biodegradable poly(HPMA) containing interchain labile urethane bonds, have been synthesized and characterized with respect to composition, homogeneity, molecular weight (MW), and antimicrobial activity. The hydrolysis kinetics of oxacillin polyester, based on branched poly(HPMA) with MW = 71000 at 37°C, was studied in a physiological solution at pH 7.0 and in a buffer at pH 2.0 using the method of dialysis through a cellophane membrane. Under these conditions, oxacillin polyester is hydrolyzed at a high rate (especially in an acid medium), which provides for a prolonged antimicrobial activity of oxacillin. All oxacillin polyesters exhibit considerable antimicrobial activity with respect to St. aureus. |
