Popis: The burner technology is quite effective to expand the primary energy consumption in Electric Arc Furnace (EAF). The optimized burner technology to minimize the heat loss to the Water-cooled Panel (WCP) has been developed by Daido Steel, after investigation of heat loss to the WCP in several burner conditions during scrap melting. The optimized burner condition is found to make the heat loss uniform in each direction and the optimized consumption of oil in burner is variable in accordance with the input power. The optimized oil consumption in B Furnace in Chita Plant which is equipped with 6 burners is 4.0l/t for the input power of 46MW, 5.5l/t for 54MW, 6.6l/t for 61MW. The heat loss increases when the oil consumption becomes lower or higher than the optimized point. The increase of number of burners and dispersive arrange of burners make the optimized point in oil consumption higher, which makes it possible to increase the primary energy to keep the heat loss minimum.
