Deviating from the molecular shape of rod-like “classical” liquid crystalline compounds we synthesized substances of the general formula All compounds exhibit nematic behaviour. The chemical structure of the linkage between the lateral aliphatic chain and the basic mesogen is of influence on the clearing behaviour. By microscopic and DSC investigations the phase transitions were studied. |
