An empirical surface tension-temperatnre relation for liquid metals

Popis: The surface tension-temperature relation gamma = S/sup 5/8/ (T/ sub c/ -- T)(T/sub c/ -- T/sub m/)/sup -1/ for liquid metals, is derived from the relation gamma /sub m/m = 0.59 S/sup 5/8/. In the derivation, the almost linear temperature dependence of surface tension and the vanishing of the surface tension at the critical temperature are considered. It was found that for the temperature runges plotted, the differences between the experimental and calculated surface tensions were less than 11%. (L.N.N.)
