Popis:	A new case of amino acid deletion in haemoglobin has been discovered by chance in a child with slight clinical disorders. Haemoglobin Lyon has deletions of residues β17 lysine (A 14) and β18 valine (A 15). This abnormal structure could only be elucidated with the use of a sequenator since classical techniques did not give definitive results. Physicochemical and functional studies have shown the importance of the A-portion of the haemoglobin molecule. The genetic mechanism of formation of haemoglobin Lyon (and of some other haemoglobins with deletion) was elucidated.
