Popis:	A newly developed method is described by which the quality of Encapsin ™ HPB (commercial 2-hydroxypropyl beta cyclodextrin) can be sensitively and accurately determined. The method involves the use of electrospray mass spectrometry in the negative ion detection mode for the determination of the degree of substitution and distribution of the 2-hydroxypropyl substituents. This method is an improvement on other mass spectrometric methods with regard to sensitivity and the lack of the formation of trace impurity ion adducts.
