Popis:	Examination of recently collected material on Madeira showed Sehirus aeneus Walker, 1867 to be identical with Canthophorus fuscipennis (Horvath, 1899). The following new synonymy is proposed: Sehirus aeneus Walker, 1867 = Sehirus fuscipennis Horvath, 1899, syn. nov. Dorsal and ventral body side of the holotype of S. aeneus, and male genitalia of the specimen collected in Madeira are illustrated. New distribution data for Canthophorus maculipes (Mulsant & Rey, 1852) in France, Greece and Spain are also provided.
