Popis: Vehicle Systems Management (VSM) is an avionics and software function that impacts the entire mission, from pre-flight through flight operations to post-flight. VSM encompasses a set of core capabilities including: 1) fault detection, isolation, and recovery, 2) health and status, 3) caution and warning, 4) resource management, 5) mode management, 6) mission time and event scheduling, 7) abort decision logic, 8) onboard checkout, 9) reinitialization/checkpoint/restart, and 10) automation and autonomy. It interfaces with the majority of the onboard subsystems, and presents an integrated and systematic view of the spacecraft to the crew and pilot. In this paper, each of the core capabilities is described individually, and later as a system. The approach being taken on Orion is distributed, having some functions occurring at the subsystem level and the higher functions at the system level.
