Popis: Retrocitomyia mizuguchiana Tibana & Xerez, 1985 (Figs 11, 16) Diagnosis. Male cercus with apex narrow and curved anteriorly (lateral view), cercal prong with a median-central depressed area with a cluster of setae (posterior view); distiphallus with an apical, ventrally-curved projection, juxta forming two long keel-shaped lobes (posterior view), and vesica with two well-sclerotized lobes projected anteriorly. Redescription. Male (Figs 11, 16). Length: 7���9 mm. Differs from R. sisbiota sp. nov. as follows: parafacial, fronto-orbital plate and posterior orbital plate with light golden pruinosity; gena with only black setae; palpus brown with darkened apex; 2 presutural dorsocentral setae; syntergosternite 7+8 with 6���7 strong marginal setae; epandrium without pruinosity; cercus long, with apex narrow and curved anteriorly (lateral view, Fig. 11), cercal base wider than cercal prong (posterior view, Fig. 16), several setae along the inner margin of the cercus, more elongated in the basal half and shorter along the cercal prong; apex of surstylus slightly bent medially, with few setae; postgonite long, with apex curved laterally; pregonite long and narrow, with apical half conspicuously curved; distiphallus with a long, ventrally-curved apical projection; vesica basally arch-shaped and less sclerotized, lateral lobes well-sclerotized and projected anteriorly; juxta with apical margin deeply split (posterior view) into two long, keel-shaped lobes, less sclerotized than base of juxta. Remarks. Previous records of this species were from the states of Minas Gerais, Para��ba and Maranh��o, comprising the open and dry Cerrado and Caatinga biomes. The new records listed above extend the distribution of the species to the state of MS, mainly in areas of Pantanal and Chaco, but it is noteworthy that all of these records are from very xeric environments. This species was collected directly with nets but was also attracted to rotten fish and banana, and was attracted to pig carcasses and cow���s lung in previous studies (Alves et al. 2014; Sousa et al. 2015).
