Popis: It was revealed through the observation using a electromicroscope on the surface of a grinding wheel that the abrasive particles have no spontaneity of cutting edges, their working surface form a plane of comparatively large area and also they have very small wear as the grinding proceeds, scratches or markings take place in the direction of cutting. Under well controlled operating conditions, it is possible to investigate for a considerable length of time the existence of preliminary marked cutting edges of a grit, through a electromicroscope after the grinding wheel has properly dressed.Through careful observation on the shape of cutting edge, the angle of negative rake of cutting edge is very large, and it seems that more elements of work material tend to be removed in the form of chips in the lateral direction to the path of the abrasive over the piece, rather than in the direction of cutting, escaping ahead of the cutting grain.
