Popis: | In 1959, Chalquest and Fabricant (1) reported that isolations of Mycoplasma from eggs and chicks inoculated with a pathogenic culture of Mycoplasma were fewer if, before inoculation, the eggs were warmed to 37?C and then dipped for 30 minutes in a 5?C solution of either erythromycin or oxytetracycline. They suggested that dipping hatching eggs in antibiotic solutions prior to incubation might be of practical significance. This study was made to determine if preincubation immersion of hatching eggs in erythromycin could materially reduce the incidence of chronic respiratory disease in broiler-type birds grown under field conditions. |
