In a comparative analysis of the accuracy of digital elevation models (DEMs) constructed from data acquired by various middle-price unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), six different budget UAVs were used with eight different cameras at heights of 25, 50 and 100 m. DEM construction was carried out with reference to ground control points, and without such reference using the coordinates of the onboard GNSS receivers. The main indicators of DEM quality were elevation and plan mean square errors. The results varied: use of ground control points did not always improve the quality of the model but, even taking account of their discrepancies, they can be used to create topographic and thematic large-scale maps. |
