Popis: The agitated patient is a syndrome of difficult initial approach by lack of cooperation from the patient. The initial diagnostic approach is vital to rule out organic because gravity can range from the banal to the lifetime risk of the patient, medical staff and security. It is a common medical emergency both inpatient and outpatient level. The therapeutic measures have to be initiated early and with an established order of priority to address the health situation successfully. Typical and atypical neuroleptics are of choice and the organic psychiatric agitation. Benzodiazepines may be associated or not cause psychiatric agitation by gravity. There are patients who do not meet criteria organicity or psychiatric pathology being called situational or reactive agitation.
