Popis:	Despite decades of research, no consensus hypotheses for the cause of the Messinian Salinity Crisis has been reached; efforts are hampered by the lack of modern analogues for the saline giants. Recent research has illustrated the importance of pre-evaporite sediments in understanding the nature of the Mediterranean in the prelude to salt precipitation.
