As the number of reported induced abortions in the United States approaches one million, it becomes more important to develop effective abortion techniques, free of both immediate complications and sequelae. Early interruption techniques are particularly attractive since, as a general rule, the number of procedure-related complications increases as gestation lengthens. The demand for early interruption has been enhanced both by an increasingly informed patient population and the availability of highly sensitive pregnancy tests which are 95% accurate within days after conception. |
