Popis: The author reports a new procedure for rehydrating specimens of fish and amphibians which have become dried and shriveled from the evaporation of preservative fluids. In seven steps it employs acetic acid baths to make the tissue permeable, followed by a surfactant bath, a water bath, and progression through increasing concentrations of alcohol to the standard preservative level. Rehydration is monitored by specimen weight. The procedure proved adaptable to treating invertebrates and algal specimens.
