Książka – Naród – Religia: Dzieje książki czeskiej do czasów odrodzenia narodowego

Autor: Grzegorz Nieć
Rok vydání: 2022
Popis: The study presents the book culture of the Czech lands from the first appearance of writing there up to the end of the 18th century. The Czech book culture dates back to the 9th century when the territories of what is now known as Czechia belonged to the state of Great Moravia. Monks Cyril and Methodius were invited there to spread Christianity in a Slavonic language. Although their mission was not a long one, mainly due to German intrigues, it left lasting traces in the form of numerous historical records of Glagolitic literature and even more importantly, fostered the idea of recording the local tongue in writing.
