EP1052 First experience in palliative care for patients with cancer type pain at the Mohammed VI center for the treatment of cancer

Popis: Introduction/Background Hospice palliative care is defined as acute care delivered in a comprehensive approach to the person with a progressive or terminal illness. Pain is one of the most common symptoms experienced by patients with palliative care needs. Methodology For this purpose, we carried out a descriptive, observational retrospective study of 107 cases, the data collection was made on the basis of a standardized data sheet after analysis of the literature, and in order to evaluate the knowledge and practices Clinics we sent an anonymous questionnaire to all the healthcare staff of the oncology center of the CHU Ibn Rochd of Casablanca. Results During our study year 107 patients were cared for at the level of palliative care whose pain was the reason for consultation in 95%. All types of tumor localizations were included, with a prevalence of lung cancer in 34%. Integration of palliative care is at an advanced stage of cancer in 73.8%. The pain was intense in 51.4%, this allowed the use of analgesics of the pallium III of the WHO in 66.3%. Analysis of the overall dimensions of painful cancer patients in palliative care found that 77.5% of patients with AEG, and 34% had psychological disorders, 30% of whom could receive psychological support. As part of palliative care training, 56% of physicians are trained in the service, with 19% continuing education; on the other hand, ¾ of the nurses who did not have a basic training in the management of cancer pain. Conclusion Finally, proposals for recommendations for the development of palliative care and clinical practice are proposed to improve the management of end-of-life patients.
