Popis:	The cytoarchitecture and topography of some brain stem nuclei of the pig have been studied intransversely and sagitally cut, Nissl and Weigert stained, semiserial section. The cytology of those brain stem nuclei which receive an afferent supply from the ventrolateral funculus of the spinal cord is described. This study was found to be a necessary prologue to the study of distribution and terminations of spinal cord afferents to the brain stem in this species. The recognition of a nuclear pattern within the brain stem of the pig which is quite similar to that described in other species is noted.
