Angular correlation studies in 32S(3He, pγ)34Cl

Popis: The levels of 34 Cl have been investigated by means of the 32 S( 3 He, pγ) reaction at 8 to 9 MeV bombarding energy. Ge(Li) detectors were employed to determine these excitatio energies: 146.4 ± 0.3, 461.0 ± 0.1, 665.6 ± 0.1, 1230.3 ± 0.2, 1887.7 ± 0.9, 2158.6 ± 0.4, 2181.5 ± 0.8, 2376.5 ± 0.5 and 2721.7 ± 0.8 keV. In an axially symmetric geometry, pγ angular correlations were measured for most levels below 3.2 MeV in excitation. All previous spin assignments are confirmed and new assignments of J = 1 to the 2581 keV and 3126 keV levels and J = 2 to the 2722 keV levels are made. From the pγ coincident data, branching ratios were deduced. Multipole mixing ratios, determined from the correlation analysis, are compared with those predicted by a recent calculation based upon the shell model.
