A wide constant-power speed range can be achieved in surface permanent-magnet machine equipped with fraction-slot concentrated-winding (FSCW). This paper has studied the influence of slot-and-pole combination on the flux-weakening properties of FSCW machine. An analytical model for predicting the magnetic field distribution in the air-gap has been built, with a fourier-analysis-based method the magnetizing inductance and the harmonic leakage inductance can be calculated. It was shown that the inductance is increasing with the decreasing of machine's slot-per-phase-per-pole value for FSCW. Finite element method simulations are used to confirm the results. |
