Popis: | This article offers a structural interpretation of Black–Latino relations based on critical insights especially from political economy and the work of Pierre Bourdieu. It argues that, socialized to play the roles that correspond to their positions, Blacks and Latinos have limited control of their relations; rather, relations express racial structures giving Whites the upper hand. In this context, Black–Latino relations are relations between two differentially constituted races that, when playing by the script, are often pitted against each other. To gain control of their relations, Blacks and Latinos need to develop awareness of the script they are ruled by and challenge the game of racial domination. |
